Somaliland: UK delegation meets KULMIYE Party Presidential Contenders

(Somalilandmonitor)-Uk delegation led by MS. Cat Evans – UK Addis Ababa Embassy Consular met Chairman of the ruling party Mr. Nusa Bihi Abdi and Vice President Abdirahman Abdillahi Saylici, who is the contender for the Vice presidency, at the presidency in camera.

Highly reliable sources stated that they discussed issues pertaining to the bilateral relations between the countries, the current poetical situation in the country, the forthcoming elections scheduled to be held in early 201.

According to these sources the gist of their discussions was centered on the Central Committee meeting that will be held on November 10/2015.

Mr. Musa Bihi briefed the delegation on the preparations for the meeting which he said to be in the final stage and that the meeting will be held on the basis of party rules and regulations without any extension. He briefed the complaints by some of the contenders will be looked into by an independent committee nominated by the president.

The leader of the UK delegation is said to have told the party candidates that the government of UK is ready to further enhance the bilateral relations between the 2 countries.

  1. Evans is said to have promised that UK will continue supporting UK funded projects in Somaliland as well as the elections that will be held in 2016. She is said to have stressed that party issues has to be solved by the party.

In another development UK delegation have also met other contenders for the party presidential candidacy- who are complaining against how preparations for the Central Committee meeting are being managed. They also told the delegation that they see the president as supporting one side of the contenders and that they are not satisfied with the technical committee nominated by the president.

  1. Evans told the contenders –which formed an opposition- to solve differences on the basis of party rules and regulations and avoid any action that might negative consequences on the security, stability and peace of Somaliland.

In their meeting with the National Electoral Commission (NEC) they discussed issues pertaining on holding the elections on time.

According to surces close to Former Minister for thePresident Mr. Hirsi Ali Hagi Hassan and Former Foreign Mr. Mohamed Bihi Yonis told the delegation, in a separate meeting they had they differ in view with the president and that the chairman of the party is against any solution to be reached through dialogue. They also emphasized that they will boycott the Central Committee meeting, which will b held on November 10/2015.cropped-mmsll.png
